The founder of Surf Gang is known for constantly creating his own sound, both melancholic and menacing, blending a unique combination of sounds from subgenres such as drill, footwork, trance, and trap. 2023 was a decisive year for evilgiane, who was credited on the production of Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem’s “The Hillbillies,” as well as Earl Sweatshirt’s “Making the Band (Danity Kane)” and since then for many other artists including Playboi Carti, A$AP Rocky, Bktherula, Veeze, Babyxsosa, RealYungPhil, and Black Kray.
He also contributed to PinkPantheress’ compilation “to hell with it” (Remixes), reworking her track “Reason.” In addition to his recent concerts with DJ Kenn, Sky Ferreira, Vegyn, and Snow Strippers, evilgiane also released his eponymous ambient cassette and collaborated on projects with 454, Matt Ox, Serane, and John Glacier this year. With the release of “BASIC” (feat. Anycia & Robb Bank$), evilgiane gives us a new glimpse of his collaborations and boundary-pushing sounds.
